The Emporium of Candy Curiosities

Multi-sensorial Food Design Workshop


Conceived for Singapore Design Week 2016, The Emporium of Candy Curiosities is a food design workshop developed in response to the Singaplural festival theme of “Senses”.

Following The Marvellous Marble Factory in 2015, the studio revisited the theme of inverting perceptions — drawing parallels between design and food processes. The workshop approaches ingredients as colour pigments that have the added dimensions of flavour, smell and texture. The workshop draws further parallels between hard-candy making and resin casting.

The resulting experience not only celebrates unusual pairings of flavours, it elevates the familiar through a process of rediscovery.
